Characteristics of Alumina-magnesia Carbon Bricks
Alumina-magnesia carbon bricks are made of bauxite or corundum as the main raw material, supplemented by an appropriate amount of fused magnesia, graphite, and binders, and are made by machine pressing and low-temperature hardening.
Characteristics of aluminum magnesia carbon brick
As a refractory material for the refining furnace lining, AMC brick gives full play to the strong slag corrosion resistance of magnesia and the low expansion and high thermal conductivity of carbon, making up for the poor spalling resistance of magnesia.
Comparison between high alumina bricks and alumina-magnesia carbon refractory bricks
Compared with high alumina bricks, the reasons for the improved performance of alumina-magnesia carbon bricks are: adding a small amount of magnesia improves the slag resistance of the bricks; adding a small amount of graphite improves the slag wettability resistance of the bricks and reduces the possibility of slag sticking. At the same time, the alumina and magnesium oxide in AMC brick can generate magnesium-alumina spinel with higher refractoriness at high temperatures, which improves the high-temperature stability of the bricks. Therefore, in terms of performance, alumina-magnesia-carbon refractory bricks have higher thermal shock stability and slag resistance than high-alumina bricks. Based on the above advantages, alumina-magnesia-carbon refractory bricks have always played an important role as ladle wall refractory materials.
